So it’s Friday now and we’ve been informed that there is a school strike on because once more the teachers are bitching for MORE money because apparently ONE NICE CAR AND HOUSE isn’t enough. So Alex G, Alex O, Ben and Maybe Jaime will be coming over to my house to chill for a little, then we’ll be jiggering over to McDonald’s for some food, like we usually do.
It comes as no surprise that the teachers are striking again, I mean seriously in the last year we had more strikes than a champion ten-pin bowler, which I still don’t understand completely because of the whole ‘Teachers only work 30 hours a week’ and seem to think they’re worth more than a brain surgeon. I have some shocking news that might scare you teachers — You’re not it, you think because you know some stuff you’re instantly the worlds most important. Sorry, thats not the case — you’re just another high-minded society member who has something FAR TO BIG TO BE IMAGINED stuck up your ass. In conclusion, stop bitching or go get a job that I couldn’t do better.
I think you underestimate the job that teachers do. Sure, there are some awful teachers out there but until you get to year 11 and 12 and you’re absolutely killing yourself over the HSC, you will realise the importance of teachers, and GOOD ones at that. No one wants to be a good teacher if they’re not getting paid very much and getting crap from slacker students at the same time. As for “only” thirty hour weeks - So many teachers come in early to start teaching and stay behind to continue and then stay for even longer to complete paperwork. So many of them are dedicated in ways that you don’t know - it’s not just the in class stuff. Public education is in a bit of a shambles at the moment - people are just trying to get by, times are tough for everyone, not all strikes lead to pay rises.
And if you could do better, I’m sure you’d know the difference between “to” and “too” and learn how to finish sentences properly.
Getting up early and having a teen ego influences what I say, however I know of only two teachers at my high school that do their job properly and maintain a working classroom in the time they’re given. Sure the job is tough, but surely the 50-60 thousand they get a year is enough for the effort they put in. Even today I spent 40 minutes of a double-period doing nothing because of how disorganised my English teacher was, then she has the nerve to tell me I don’t do any work in class. You’re right about not all teachers but perhaps I should have stressed this was aimed at MY school and rather not all schools across the world.
